How to: Create a Stitched Fabric Effect in Photoshop

10th October 2014

In this tutorial I’m looking at the basics of how you can use custom shapes and the text tool to create a realistic looking stitching effect. I start with a circle and apply a pattern overlay to make it look like a piece of denim. Then I create a second smaller circle inside which will become the path for the stitching itself. The smaller circle fill colour is knocked out and I use the edge as a text path for a continual line of hyphens, which I can then style with colours and effects to look like stitching.

I put a message up on facebook that I needed someone to take over the hosting of my new website, and Jo responded and left her number. I got in touch and she took control of the situation, contacting the previous host and effecting the transfer. I have been impressed with Jo’s knowledge, helpfulness and her calm manner. Thank you Jo.
