How to: Create a Stitched Fabric Effect in Photoshop

10th October 2014

In this tutorial I’m looking at the basics of how you can use custom shapes and the text tool to create a realistic looking stitching effect. I start with a circle and apply a pattern overlay to make it look like a piece of denim. Then I create a second smaller circle inside which will become the path for the stitching itself. The smaller circle fill colour is knocked out and I use the edge as a text path for a continual line of hyphens, which I can then style with colours and effects to look like stitching.

Jo took my simple brief outline of what I wanted and turned it into everything I wanted and more. Jo was very professional, efficient and she was patient and understanding with the fact that I was not knowledgeable about building websites or what’s involved. By the end of it Jo had given me and my team a training session around how to manage the website. I would highly recommend her!
