How to: Create a Stitched Fabric Effect in Photoshop

10th October 2014

In this tutorial I’m looking at the basics of how you can use custom shapes and the text tool to create a realistic looking stitching effect. I start with a circle and apply a pattern overlay to make it look like a piece of denim. Then I create a second smaller circle inside which will become the path for the stitching itself. The smaller circle fill colour is knocked out and I use the edge as a text path for a continual line of hyphens, which I can then style with colours and effects to look like stitching.

Jo has been amazing. Through 1-2-1 training sessions she has helped me to make significant improvements to my website functionality. This has not only been cost effective but it also has empowered me to use the skills that I have gained to edit my website myself in the future. She has simplified what I thought would be tricky tasks. I will definitely continue to work with her in the future and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.
